Global Cardiovascular Innovation Center Announces Next Funding Round
Will be at TechColumbus to Meet with Prospective Applicants
The Global Cardiovascular Innovation Center (GCIC) is soliciting proposals from companies and institutions developing innovative technologies directed towards the diagnosis or treatment of cardiovascular disease, and who have or will establish a base of operations in the state of Ohio.
Mark Low, Managing Director and Tom Sudow, Director of Business Development and other Members of the GCIC staff will at TechColumbus (1275 Kinnear Rd Columbus, OH) on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at 2:00 pm in Conference Room A and will be available following the presentation for individual meetings. The meeting will be a review of the application process and will also have plenty of times for questions. RSVP to Twatterman@techcolumbus.org. Proposals will be accepted from research institutions and companies currently located in Ohio or seeking to develop a presence in Ohio. The average funding to date has been between $200,000 and $300,000.(with a high of $1,000,000 and low of $15,000). To date over $9,500,000 has been allocated to 33 projects. GCIC funding awarded must be used towards development efforts within Ohio. GCIC encompasses and seeks a broad portfolio of cardiovascular technologies, but it is expected that most proposed projects will fall within the following product categories:
ü Diagnostics
ü Imaging
ü Medical Devices
ü Therapeutics
Proposals may be for project stages that range from proof of concept to achievement of critical development milestones. Use of GCIC funds should be allocated to specific, measurable project activities, key to establishing commercial opportunity that can be accomplished within a period of one year.
Evaluation Criteria
Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
Commercialization
ü Projects directed towards the diagnosis or treatment of cardiovascular disease
ü Market analysis and competitive landscape
ü Commercial advantage
ü Timely achievement of financeable milestones
ü IP and regulatory feasibility
